British Columbia - Southern Vancouver Island, Part II

Well we took 174 pictures today!  We can’t share them all with you, but will share a few.  We went to the Butchart Gardens – a world famous garden near Victoria, British Columbia and a National Historic Site of Canada.  Every detail in The Butchart Gardens is framed by flowers, from the entrance sign with the hanging arrangement within the sign

to the garbage cans, that each had a flower arrangement.

Butchart Gardens consists of several gardens.  The Sunken Garden (which was our favorite) was created by Jennie Butchart in an old quarry about a hundred years ago.  The Queen Elizabeth Park Gardens in Vancouver that we saw last week was also created in a quarry.  What a thought to be able to look at a quarry and see a potential garden!

We asked for Barbara’s parents help identifying a bird in a previous post.  How about identifying this bird?

These gardens are immaculately kept, well-planned, and an awesome display of color.  The next garden was the Rose Garden – lots of beauty here.

Look what we found in the Rose Garden.

There was also a Japanese Garden.  Not as much color here, but lots of use of shape.

An Italian Garden.

And other gardens, fountains, and sites.
One more full day in Canada and then back to the States.
