Last night while taking pictures of the sunset, Bill had a nice chat with Larry, a Native American who worked at the resort. He also took this picture of the moon.
We started our day with logistics: finding wifi, moving to a
different campground, getting more call time for Barbara’s Canadian phone
number... We even spent some time stuck
on a one lane campground road behind a cement truck pouring cement. But there wasn’t much to see at the ocean
anyway. Here is a picture of the Kwisitis Visitor Center
at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. For
most of the day the ocean was enveloped in pea soup fog.
We did go on a walk on the Shorepine Bog Trail since it
wasn’t foggy there.
The ecosystem was different there.
And we also went to the top of Radar Hill where we got a
view of the mountains.
We saw this relief map of the area in the visitor center. It shows how there is only one road into the
area through the mountains. The area within
the faint yellow line is Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The biggest beach is Long Beach – where our current campground is
located. Our previous campground was on
a beach just to the right of the national park.
Tomorrow we head back across the island and then further
south – closer to Victoria.
