British Columbia - Sea to Sky, Part I

The weather is warmer and remains beautiful. The Squamish library has wifi, so we took care of some logistics, paying bills and activating Barbara’s cell phone with a Canadian number. Then, off to the spectacular Shannon Falls.

After the falls, Bill went off on a 4 mile hike (1700 ft elevation) to Stawamus Chief’s second peak, seen here from the entrance to Shannon Falls.

Stawamus Chief is a granite monolith similar to Yosemite’s Half Dome, but less famous. The trail was very steep, mostly rough rocks with some wooden steps, before becoming even steeper and narrow at the top with chains anchored into the rock to provide handholds. The reward was a spectacular 270-degree view of Howe Sound and distant snowcapped peaks.
Can you see the hiker way up there?

We drove a section of Sea to Sky highway that we drove yesterday, stopping to enjoy viewpoints including Porteau Cove Provincial Marine Park.

We’re from Boston, but never heard of Boston Pizza until we were 3000 miles away. Now we see it all over.

What is Boston Pizza?

All in all it was a beautiful day with some beautiful views.
