We
had so much going on the day we saw the puffins that we had to break it up into
two posts. The later half of the day we hiked the Skerwink Trail, a 5.3km loop
trail that skirts the coast climbing up and over dramatic cliffs and headlands.
We
found lots of places to peak out at the cliffs and seastacks.
When
you see a bunch of people with cameras and binoculars facing the same
direction, you know they’ve probably spotted something. So when we saw this
group we joined them.
We
and the group spent a while just looking at the open sea hoping the whale they
spotted would resurface. Someone would say, “There it is!” And we’d all look in
the direction they pointed. They are hard to spot and only surface for seconds,
but Bill managed to snap a few pictures.
The
coastal part of the trail ends up looking back on Trinity and the lighthouse –
the opposite view that we had from Gun Hill.
We
love coastal trails.
