Barbara usually wakes ultra
early, but set her cell phone alarm to 5:30am allowing enough time to drive to
the ferry and food shop. She woke up early puttering around and then noiced
that the clock on the computer differed from her phone which had the alarm.
What?!!! The cell phone time was wrong. It had been on Atlantic Time the entire
time we’d been in Canada, but some how switched back to Eastern Time – perhaps
due to using WiFi calling. Fortunately she noticed BEFORE the alarm was
supposed to go off.
The other little glitch was
that our cell phone’s Canadian SIM card wasn’t working for data. Bill had just
enough time to go to Walmart and correct the problem. Despite the alarm mishap
and the unanticipated Walmart stop we made it to the ferry 5 minutes before
checkin!
We got in line behind the
other RVs and watched the semis go on first. We also turned off our propane,
opening the cover lid so the ferry guys could confirm we turned it off (more on
that later).
Then we drove on.
We found a corner by a
window and mostly read during the 7-hour ride. We saw the other ferry going by
through the window.
We like being on the deck,
but it was very windy.
We drove off the ferry
feeling like cattle in a herd following the line of RVs onto the highway
concentrating on our GPS which had yet to sync when we heard a small clunk. We
didn’t realize until we got to the campsite that we lost the lid to the plastic
propane tank cover. After unhitching at the campsite, Bill went back to look
for it. Fortunately he found it along the road! Well we had a couple glitches,
but thank God it all seemed to work out.
We had salmon for dinner,
which was less expensive than beef. We ended the day with a sunset walk along
the beach.
