Dupont State Forest is known for its waterfalls, so we decided to check it out. Dupont is North Carolina’s first Recreational
State Forest
– a 10,473 acre forest near the town of Brevard
with four major waterfalls, five lakes, and 82 miles of trails.
HIGH FALLS
We stopped at the visitor
center for helpful information, then took the well-groomed, multi-use trail to High Falls.
Another trail brought us
closer to the bottom of High
Falls.
TRIPLE FALLS
Next we hiked to Triple Falls.
The trail leads you to a spot between the three falls with two above and one
below.

We later came upon a vista
where we could see all three falls in Triple Falls.
The park removed just enough trees to get a good view.
Barbara then took a
leisurely walk back stopping at the covered bridge over High Falls.
BRIDLE VEIL FALLS
In the meantime Bill hiked
to Bridle Veil Falls,
which drops eight feet off an overhanging ledge. Scenes from The Hunger Games
and The Last of the Mohicans were filmed here. Rock scrambling wasn’t
prohibited, so Bill was able to get different angles which provided
surprisingly different views.
CRAGGY CREEK FALLS
Bill also went to Craggy Creek
Falls, which was limited
to a side view.
HOOKER FALLS
Later we hiked to Hooker Falls.
