This is the second year our
daughter, Kate, participated in a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture Farm) in
Westborough, Massachusetts. Members of the CSA either pay
a fee or work 8 hours per week for fresh, organic, locally grown produce. Kate
puts in the hours. We volunteered one day last year and did it again
this year, contributing to her hours of service.

It’s tough work that she does regardless of the weather and she has
to get up ultra early to drive all the way out to the farm, but she’s
dedicated. She believes in the operation and respects “Farmer John,” an
impressive guy who works the farm, grows the crop, distributes the harvest to
CSA members, brings food to farmers markets, and manages volunteers – matching
ability with needed work. A great agricultural and community endeavor!

Also Kate’s had one new
thing keeping her busy – a dog. Kate adopted Tina from a shelter in our former
hometown of Sudbury.
Barbara had the opportunity to witness adoption day last month. Here they are a
few days ago. Looks like they are bonding well.
